Course overview
This competency-based course is designed to train delegates in both theoretical and practical aspects of first aid to the standard laid down in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Who should attend?
Any member of the management team or employee who is to carry out the duties of first aid in the workplace.
When selecting employees for training, the employer should consider the individuals:
- reliability, disposition and communication skills;
- aptitude and ability to absorb new knowledge;
- ability to cope with stressful and physically demanding emergency procedures;
- normal duties. These should be such that they may be able to go immediately and rapidly to an emergency.
Duration
The course is run over 3 days (9am-4.45pm). The change from the longer 4 day course is in line with the guidance set by the HSE on 1st October 2009 relating to the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Although it is usual to have all the days running consecutively, the course can be broken down into smaller modules over a number of weeks. There may be an additional charge for this service to cover travelling expenses.

First Aid at Work Requalification (2 days)
Course overview
This course renews the First Aid at Work qualification. It can be taken up to 3 month prior to, and up to 28 days after the expiry of the current certificate. If this renewal window is missed the whole of the First Aid at Work course must be retaken in line with HSE regulations. No exceptions to this can be made.

Who should attend?
A qualified First Aider who is nearing the end of their current First Aid at Work certificate in the timescales outlined above.
Duration
Two days – it is usual to have the days running consecutively.
